Here we try to give some definitions and what other women have
experienced . But to truly understand this event, one must participate.
The Wise Woman Weekend is a weekend of learning, discovery, celebration
and fun for women of all ages.
It is a time to reclaim the wisdom within, to learn about new things,
to discover the creative you, to explore ideas and to realise you
are not alone.
- To provide a welcoming, participatory and empowering space
where we can share our knowledge, skills, talents, experiences
and feel connected to and inspired by the community of women.
- To create an event for diverse women at various stages
on their path to wisdom to celebrate the feminine in themselves,
each other and nature, at whatever level they are comfortable
with.
- To introduce a broad range of life enhancing topics and activities
that women may not have the opportunity to explore in their ordinary
experience.
- To foster an ethos of care with respect to ourselves, our natural
world, and others.
- To remember the ancient Irish culture and heritage and favour
earth centered wisdom and tradition.
- To promote a culture of sharing, self reliance, and creative
collaboration and avoid unmediated commercialisation of the weekend.
- To gather in a circle where there is no hierarchy– each
woman is as important as her sister on either side and honoured
for her unique gifts.
- To encourage a supportive, rejuvenating, nurturing and playful
environment where women become confident in their ability to
create positive change in themselves, their relationships, family
and community.
Our Guiding Principles
The Wise Woman Weekend is organised based on holistic
sustainable principles by entirely volunteer energy. We honour
our facilitators by reimbursing out of pocket expenses
and giving them an opportunity to attend the weekend at no cost.
They are very special women willing to share their knowledge and
skills and know they are contributing to an impactful event.
Where possible, we source all our goods and services
in the immediate community, request environmentally friendly products
and actively seek women run enterprises.
Cost should not be a barrier to attendance. We did not charge an "all
inclusive" rate - this gives you the freedom to control your
own food and accommodation costs. We offer a limited
number of bursaries and work/exchanges. Contact us if you have
a creative idea for a fair exchange of energy.
Read our Green Statement
All who participate in the weekend have an opportunity to become
part of its evolution. Each year, Sara-Jane Kickham from the Limerick
Institute of Technology collates the information you provide on
the feedback survey and your thoughts and ideas become part
of the wise woman vision circle.

Here is what women have to say about the weekend:
Fantastic, interesting, fun and stimulating.
I have received so much from listening, sharing, joining in ritual. It's been a lovely affirmation of myself, my feminity, my role as a woman in the world.
It is a special celebration of the value of and the sacredness of women.
What it feels like to be with empowered women!
There was a unique feeling of connectiveness with all of the women present - it was powerful.
To come together and discover who we are and to discover the joy in letting go of patterning and restrictions.
I feel I found my core and gained more feminine energy.
I just seemed magically to get everything I needed. It was a gift.
Feel like a new woman. Great experience with all the wise women.
It was wonderful. The collective wisdom that gathered here.
Sense of equality and belonging. An appreciation of women and womenhood.
The ease of connecting with other women, the similarities in vision was comforting.
I found it joyful and wonderful to connect with so many other women all on a wonderful journey.
It made me realize that everyone carries their own trauma and that I am not alone with troubles.
Found "myself" again as I'm now a carer and get a bit lost.
I didn't know what to expect-thought there might be a clique and closed circle but did not find that.
Connection, openness, non judgemental, flexibility and warmth - great.
The element of fun and to witness such inspirational creative women.
We're all on the same ship - and looking for the light.
I know I need regular women only "stuff" to maintain my balance and to be reminded of how wonderful women are.
Feel stronger and more focused and part of a fabulous sisterhood.
