Our Ethos

The Wise Woman Weekend is organised based on holistic sustainable principles by entirely volunteer energy.

This women only event excites your cerebral, emotional, physical and spiritual self.

The workshops cover a broad range of topics to encourage diversity. We provide a safe space where the common bond between women can be strenghtened regardless of differences.

When women come together in a supportive, fun and nurturing environment they gain confidence in their ability to create positive change; in themselves, their family and community.

It is a time to reclaim the wisdom within, to learn about new things, to discover the creative you, to explore ideas and to realise you are not alone.

In a world dominated by masculine energy, the Wise Woman Weekend is a safe place to celebrate all it means to be a women.

An ethos of care with respect to ourselves, our natural world, diversity, and each other is fostered.

Where possible, we source all our goods and services in the immediate community, request environmentaly friendly products and actively seek women run enterprises.

Our website includes a Car Pool for people to offer and request a lift. You can make a new friend, save money and reduce carbon emmissions all in one go.

It is our aim that cost not be a barrier to attendance.

This weekend is only possible because our facilitators partake on a volunteer basis. We honour them by reimbursing out of pocket expenses and giving them an opportunity to attend the weekend at no cost. They are very special women willing to share their knowledge and skills and knowing they are contributing to an impactful event.

The weekend pass cost less than most weekend workshops run by one facilitator, and you get a choice of 15 facilitators!

We did not charge an "all inclusive" rate - this gives you the freedom to control your own food and accommodation costs.

We offer a limited number of bursaries and work/exchanges. Contact us if you have a creative idea for a fair exchange of energy.

Support our work

The Wise Woman Weekend is self financing and runs on a break even basis each year. In order to realise the full potential of the weekend we need a sponsor. If you share our ethos and are in the position to make a monetary contribuation, please contact us.

Summary of the Audience Research:

Sara-Jane Kickham and her students from the Limerick Institute of Technology have volunteered to collect audience research every year since inception. We do this with the aim of making the weekend better each year. They do a great service for us.

Your comments are an important part of the evolution of the weekend. Please take the opportunity to complete the feedback sheets provided at the weekend.

From the 2008 feedback sheets it is clear that the Wise Woman Weekend is past the shy teenager stage and ready for the next stage - be prepared for a major injection of wildness in 2009!

You all wanted a way to stay connected after the weekend, so check out the Wise Woman Blog for workshops, events, important resources and loads of information.
